London and Kate Nash

HEY so this weekend I went to London to go to the City University open day. I stayed with my sister in Wimbledon which was nice because I don't get to see her very often. I went up Friday evening and came back Sunday evening, and went to the open day on Saturday. The university is so nice, I want to go there more than anything because it's in the top 5% of unis in the country AND I've always wanted to live in London. However, accommodation at the cheapest is £180 a week and even with the extra money you get if you study in London I really don't think I can afford that. Aw.

As well as going to the university we went to Ed's diner which is the best place ever (google it, it's basically a mock 50s diner) and I had a coke float and a Smokey Joe's burger and sweet potato fries and it was just perfect. Nice food makes me so happy. We also wandered around Roehampton which is a really nice area and there's another university there, and I made lasagne which I was really proud of because I'm terrible at cooking.
This is my coke float. Yum. You can see some of the fries too. Yum yum.

There was slight awkwardness as my sister had had a huge argument with my dad just before I went up there and she kept sneaking in little comments about him. I ignored them. It has nothing to do with me. Personally I think they're both childish. But luckily it didn't affect the weekend too much.

Then Monday I went to see Kate Nash at Thekla with my friend. I went to hers beforehand and got drunk off a bottle of pear cider...yep I'm a mess. I've never been to a more emotional gig in my whole life. I'd lost most of my excitement about the whole thing to be honest because Kate had posted a new song on YouTube a few weeks ago that was quite frankly shit and I was worried she'd just be playing loads of new stuff. She varied between old and new though and even the new stuff was really good, she performed so well. At the end it was obvious there wasn't meant to be an encore because everything was being packed away, but no one was leaving so she came back on and sang a lullaby type thing completely acapella and it was so beautiful. She had tears in her eyes the whole time, she must of been so nervous and overwhelmed. I honestly just wanted to give her a hug. She's perfect. I have a lot of respect for her. There was a crazy guy there who was head banging the whole time and a couple who kept kissing and touching eachother in front of us. Ah, people at gigs.

I want to go to another gig.
